Learn Before Investing Through an App

Independent reviews help you tell a regulated trading app from one that is not.

How to Check an App

An app can look professional and still lack the authorisation that protects your money.

01

Find the Publisher Details

Before depositing anything, look up who published the app. The store listing shows a developer name, but that name should also appear on a regulator’s public register before you go further.

02

Check the Permissions It Requests

An investment app that asks for access to your contacts or messages is asking for more than it needs. Permissions that go beyond the app’s stated purpose are worth questioning before you install.

03

Read the Store Reviews Carefully

A cluster of five-star reviews posted within a few days of each other can indicate manufactured feedback. Genuine user reviews tend to appear steadily over time and mention specific features.

04

Look Up the Licence

Regulated brokers and fund platforms are listed on official financial authority registers. Searching the app’s stated company name on those registers takes a few minutes and tells you whether the licence is real.

A convincing interface is not evidence of regulation, and a high promised return is not evidence of a working product.
